Storm damage from signs and street lights, to limbs and landscaping was a pretty common sight throughout the City and our neighborhood following severe weather last Friday, February 19th.
Park Tower was not spared. We had landscaping damage in front and on our 2nd floor deck, but thankfully very minor and superficial. However, as scene in the photo, we also had some property damage. Fortunately nothing rising to the level of an insurance claim, but just enough to create a nuisance.
We are told there were 80 to 100 mph gusts during the windstorm on Friday, throughout our neighborhood and particularly around the high rises. This resulted in those damages and even exploding transformers and downed power lines in the alley just to the west of Sheridan Road.
When severe weather like this occurs, please remember:
- Use extra caution when entering and exiting the building. This goes for foot traffic AND vehicles. Watch for flying debris.
- The pressure and wind can make the revolving doors in the lobby very difficult to maneuver – use caution, and do not hesitate to ask a member of the staff for assistance.
- KEEP WINDOWS CLOSED! In any severe weather, opening the window, especially in high wind conditions, can result in damage to the windows and screens. It can also seriously unbalance the air pressure in the hallways, cause doors to slam, and spread any odors (food, cigarette smoke, etc…) from your unit into others.
ALSO – Sign up to receive emergency messages from our office!
