To initiate this process, inspections of these units by the Association’s plumber are scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday September 9th and 10th from 9AM to 3PM. Our plumber expects to take about 15 minutes or less per unit. He will start on September 9th at the 55th floor around 9am and work downward to the 43rd floor, ending by 3pm. On September 10th, he will start on the 42nd floor working down to the 30th floor. He will inspect the plumbing and the general work location within the ’09 & ‘10 bathrooms where the bulk of the work will take place, as well as the surroundings from the entrance of each unit leading to the bathroom.
He will be accompanied by the building engineer who will be taking small 2”x2” wall samples at the work locations. These will be tested for asbestos out of an abundance of caution, in light of findings following the fire in a unit the 4th floor in December 2025. If asbestos is detected, it will be abated professionally as a part of the work effort. These small openings will be made as non-invasive and inconspicuously as possible, to be repaired during the recon phase of the project.
These inspections are vital to lay the groundwork for the project to begin in October by assessing the condition of pipes, fixtures and surroundings so we can plan what is needed for each unit individually. Then, letters will go to each Owner and resident to help prepare you and set expectations. An informational Town Hall Meeting will be held on Wednesday September 30th, at 6PM in the 2nd Floor Party Room. At the meeting we will describe the history and purpose of the project, and provide more specific details for residents with an opportunity to address questions and concerns.
