Because the improvement includes removing almost all the current machines out, to be replaced by new machines being moved in, the effort has been rescheduled. The next available window on the calendar for Family Pride is mid-November. As we get closer to November, we expect they will give as a more solid timeframe.
We know many residents were looking forward to the new machines and facelift. We are just very sensitive to the fact this is a freight elevator intensive effort. With only elevator 5 to handle moves, deliveries and other such business, moving this makes the best sense to help avoid unnecessary chaos.
We’ve received word from Family Pride Laundry Service that our order of new machines is expected to arrive in early September.
This is following an extension of their license agreement for the laundry room, approved early this year by the PTCA Board. In fact, pending the equipment’s arrival, they tentatively scheduled their crew to remove the existing equipment on Thursday, September 3rd, and expect to have the new equipment fully installed by Friday, September 11th.
The laundry room will be closed during this effort!
There will be new machines and some changes to the vending options, including new cards. Similar app and machine based functionality is still expected to be available as well. As the installation date gets closer, we expect them to send specific instructions for residents to transfer balances from their old laundry cards to the new system. This will include information on how to use the new card/app payment system, along with an instructional video on downloading the app, creating an account, and starting the machines.
