Bright city lights and reflections can disorient nocturnal birds, leading to unnecessary collisions with glass. To help our feathered friends and provide a more safe passage through the city, we encourage the Park Tower community to participate in the Lights Out Chicago program. Seasonal Periods:
Spring Migration: March 15 – June 15
Fall Migration: August 15 – November 15
How You Can Help (Between 11:00 PM and Sunrise):
Close Blinds & Curtains: Pull down window coverings in perimeter rooms at night to prevent interior light from spilling outward.
Turn Off Unnecessary Lights: Shut off non-essential overhead lighting when leaving a room or before going to bed.
Use Task Lighting: Switch to desk lamps or lower-intensity lighting instead of full overhead room lights late at night.
Taking these small steps can help make a huge difference in saving thousands of migratory birds passing by our lakefront. Thank you for your consideration and any effort to help keep Park Tower more bird-friendly!
