Maintenance emergencies on Monday and Tuesday required all hands on deck, including our workers completing this project. They were unable to return to the effort full time until Thursday. So, again, reopening is postponed, and we now expect sometime next week – we are hoping, by Friday.
The floor was finished and they’ve gotten two of the three stalls in place. The countertop install was postponed, and we do not have a date for that now, so we can not say for sure when we expect to reopen. Once all the stalls are in, plumbing work will be completed, the countertop and sinks will be installed. All together there is about a days or so of work left plus cleaning, and they will pull it all together barring any further interruptions.
Below, 2 out of 3 stalls were put in place.
Always a possibility when we complete projects in house, unfortunately competing priorities stole our teams attention away and progress was delayed. They did not get to put in as many hours as they hoped. In particular, our Assistant Engineer Patrik, had to divert his attention to other business and was unable to focus on the bathroom project exclusively.
The wall tiling was completed, with the exception of the base. The old floor has been demolished – and that resulted in a delay as well. The concrete underneath required about twice the leveling and prep work the men’s room required. This took about a day longer than expected
They’ve started laying the new flooring. They expect the floor to be completed Friday, after which the base tile and stalls will be put in, as well as the new counter, sinks and vanity lighting. If they are able to focus on the work, they anticipate completion is possible on Wednesday August 28th, with the bathroom reopening Thursday August
Work continued this week with the wall, and flooring is expected to be installed first thing this upcoming week, followed by the new stalls, countertop and sinks. If it all comes together as expected right now, the timing puts us at some point Friday for reopening.
As of Friday this week, our team was just about finished with the new tiling of the walls:
In the cover photo, Patrik and Santana, cutting and placing tiles, careful to properly level and space them across the surface.
They’ve completed a complete replacement of the drywall, started prepping the floor for new flooring, and begun installing new tile.

Work was delayed several days, when deteriorated walls and plumbing were uncovered in a neighboring service closed. Plumbing serving a washing basin was in poor shape, and adjacent drywall was damaged. That additional work was addressed, and the staff recommenced work in the bathroom.
Above, the conditions in a service closet neighboring the mall bathrooms needed some repairs to plumbing and walls.
Our team is continuing the effort to remodel the women’s room in the mall, consistent with the improvements to the men’s room in the mall.
Demo and plumbing work has been completed, and our team is working on insulation and re-installation of the drywall. Reconstruction will continue including the walls, stalls and plumbing fixtures. They believe work will continue over the next couple weeks, with the bathroom reopening for use sometime in mid or late August.
Below, the new plumbing and branch-lines have been installed by the Association’s plumber:
Our team is gearing up to begin facelifts to the mall women’s room facilities, to be followed closely by the laundry room on 1p; work approved by the PT Board of Directors earlier this year. Not updated in over 2 decades, with the exception of minor repairs and superficial work here and there, the time has come. New wall tile, flooring, stalls, fixtures and lighting will be installed.
Since the men’s room was completed in house, our staff has been catching up with other business, but poising to get started in the women’s room. necessary materials, and following recent project meetings, our team developed a tentative schedule. Work is expected to begin with Monday July 22nd. They expect to complete it by Friday August 16th. During this time the bathroom will be closed an inaccessible. Keep in mind, as with any project of this nature it is possible they could uncover unknown conditions, and should that happen we will follow up with more information.
As we get near major completion of the women’s room, we will map out the timing for the work in the laundry room. Tentatively we expect work on the mall laundry room in late August.
The design will closely follow that of the men’s room and 2nd Floor Locker Room bathrooms.
