Thankfully, the team has been working to get the seasonal maintenance of the boilers done. They were tested this past week and are now up and running for the fall.
We do plan to switch back and forth between Heat and AC as conditions and feedback from residents may dictate. Typically, if the outdoor air temperature falls below 52, the heat will be on. If the temperature is above 58-62, the AC will be on. But that is sometimes dependent on whether it is sunny or cloudy, windy or rainy. On a cloudy and windy day, at 62 degrees, the AC would likely not come on.
We do realize that on sunny and warmer days, even during the winter, it can become very warm in units facing the sun. But we do have to insure we are reaching particular temperatures indoors, as required by City code. Eventually, the cooling tower will be drained as we start expecting regular sub-freezing temperatures. During this period, the annual maintenance is conducted on the cooling tower and chillers so they are prepared for the following year’s warm weather. This is usually in late October or November, but is highly dependent on the weather.
This transition period can cause some frustration – we realize that and apologize for any discomfort this may cause residents.
Feel free to give us any feedback – knowing what you’re experiencing can help us make adjustments that can help.
