Not long after drafting this update, we learned the speed of repair work is actually exceeding expectations. We expect the elevator may be returned to service by mid-day Saturday September 17th.
They believe, barring uncovering any further unknown conditions that they will be completed and return elevator #5 to service by the end of business Tuesday September 20th.
Originally it was believed we were only addressing one bad bearing, but it unexpectedly turned out to be two. Also, all seals and bearing caps had to be re-manufactured. The last of the necessary parts arrived on Thursday morning, and without any further complications this is a process that takes around 4 working days to complete. So as it stands now, they expect the elevator to be put back in service on Tuesday.
The loss of this elevator is aggravating for everyone, residents and staff. We greatly appreciate everyone’s extraordinary patience and understanding. The problem was identified, the necessary parts sought and work got underway as quickly as possible, but we know any downtime is painful.
