On January 4th, between 8am and 5pm, each elevator will be taken out of service from about 3 to 4 hours so the necessary testing can be completed. Each car will be completed separately, and barring any unforeseen conditions they should be returned to service by 5pm.
Both cars 3 & 4 serve the high riser floors from 23 to 55.
If anything changes, this post will be updated with our expectations.
Work on Car #4’s traveler cable was completed as planned on Friday December 19th. (Car #4 serves the 23rd to 55th floors.) However, after briefly being returned to service over the weekend, additional problems were identified. Today, Monday December 21st, the necessary repairs have been completed and the elevator has been returned to service.
HOWEVER, OTIS Elevator Reported a problem identified with the cables serving Car #3 (which also serves the 23rd to 55th floors). They are planning to repair this problem on Tuesday December 22nd. They expect the repair to take about 8 hours and the elevator to be returned to service by the end of the day.
SAFETY TESTING IS NOT COMPLETED, with Cars 3, 4 and 5, but still needs to be done…
Because of the issues the technicians identified, as well as the repairs underway to car #4, OTIS has not yet started the Safety Testing that needs to be completed for municipal compliance. This will be scheduled once both cars 3 & 4 are up and running and free from any lingering issues. We’ve asked they give us at least one weeks notice, before rescheduling this testing.
We realize the ongoing outage of Car #4 has been a hassle and inconvenience for residents on those floors, and we greatly appreciate your patience and understanding while this necessary repair work has been accomplished.
OTIS Elevator has scheduled routine safety testing and inspections of all our passenger elevator cars. Technicians have been scheduled to perform these necessary and important testing, which is also required by relevant building codes. Their team plans to start the process on Tuesday this week and will begin with one car at a time. They expect to complete at least 2 per day with work taking about 3 hours per car.
Elevators 3 & 4 in the lobby, which serve floors 23 to 55, will be done toward the end of the week, when they expect the traveler cable replacement on car 4 to be finished. Car 3 will be done last, after car 4 has been put back in service.
These tests are required by the City, and an important part of properly owning, maintaining and keeping the elevators safe throughout their lifetime.
Tuesday – Cars #1 & 2 Serving Floors 2 – 23
Wednesday – Cars #5 & 6 Service Elevators Serving ALL Floors
Thursday – Cars #7 & 8 Serving the Mall Area and Garage
Friday – Cars #3 & 4 Serving Floors 23 – 55 (Car #4 first, and placed back in service, then Car #3)
While this process typically goes faster than planned, and they do not expect to find any problems, if unknown conditions are uncovered, it is possible an elevator may be out of service for longer than the anticipated time frame. If anything does arise, we will follow up using our text service. NOT A MEMBER??
