We Are Pleased To Confirm The Rooftop Lighting Improvement Is Completed

As previously reported, and the culmination of many years of thought, planning and patience, the outer wall of the penthouse level is now adorned with LED lighting which will add some effects to the rooftop between sundown and 11pm each evening. While it has been in place and used in a testing mode since the 4th of July, and many residents and Owners were already aware of it, we can confirm the work is complete and it is now properly programmed. It will be used going forward to add a colorful crowning effect to the rooftop, especially for a holidays and special events.

This has actually been in the works since the main roof was replaced almost a decade ago. It was decided at that time to change the color of the exterior wall from yellow to white specifically to allow for this possibility. The project was budgeted but pushed due to the pandemic and further delayed to address other priorities. This year, it finally came together. And it would be unfair not to mention the bulk of the labor was completed by building engineer Patrik Janic. It did take several months and basically got done as time allowed between other business and projects that required his attention. So, a great big thank you to Patrik!

Most days there will simply be white lighting. However, the Board enlisted the help of the Home Improvement Commission to devise a calendar of holidays, dates and events when color schemes would be integrated:

January – Winter – White and Blue
Jan 3rd Monday Martin Luther King, Jr., Day – Red, White, and Blue
February – Red
Valentine’s Day – Red, Pink and White
Feb 3rd Monday – Presidents’ Day – Red, White, and Blue
Mar 1 to Mar 17 – St. Patrick’s Day – Green
Mar 27 to Apr 15 – Easter/Spring – Yellow, Green, Pink
Last week of May – Memorial Day- Red, White, and Blue
June 19 – Juneteenth – Red, White, and Blue
June 20  to June 30 – Pride Month – Rainbow
July 1 to July 4 – Independence Day – Red, White, and Blue
First week of Sept – Labor Day – Red, White, and Blue
Oct 16 to Oct 31 – Halloween – Orange and Purple
Nov 11 – Veterans’ Day – Red, White, and Blue
Nov 15 – Nov 30 – Thanksgiving – Yellow and Orange
Dec 2 – Dec 31 -Christmas – Red and Green

There’s room in the schedule for special dates and events if they arise. The programming can be done with relative ease. These are fairly inexpensive light fixtures, but the applications and software used include the latest technology. So the colors and capabilities are pretty amazing.
