It is legit! Several Owners and Residents Reported Receiving the Following E-mail, purportedly alleging a class action lawsuit was settled which may entitle customers to settlement proceeds:

“Attached is a notice of a proposed class action settlement which the Court has ordered be sent to you as you may be a member of the Settlement Class in this case.  If you have any questions regarding this Notice you may go to the Settlement Website at www.RCNTCPAsettlement.com or contact Class Counsel at 888-317-3843.”

We have been advised by one of our reps at RCN this is a legitimate matter regarding alleged automated phone calls to cell phones of customers, and it is safe to open the attachment and learn more. RCN was required to give the court contact information they have for any customers that may fall under the class relevant to the settlement, which means if they have your e-mail address on file, that may have been included. Some customers may just receive it in the regular US mail.

If you are a qualified member of the settlement class, you have until March 15, 2017 to file a claim.
