This is very likely an attempt to steal the recipients identify or at the very least wreak havoc with your computer. It is possible that such an e-mail we go to other exchanges as well – such as “gmail.com” – not just RCN. We have seen similar messages before – purportedly with messages from RCN. However, RCN advised us this has nothing to do with them. And in general, whether from RCN or anyone else, it is never wise to respond to any e-mails even remotely similar, which request such personal information and particularly logins and passwords.
We advise residents ignore and delete any such messages.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
