The contractor continues to report they are on time – the framing and lighting are completely finished. However, they are waiting for the final visit by the City of Chicago Plumbing inspector. They tentatively expected this to be completed September 9th, but unfortunately the inspector did not show. So, at this point we expect the inspector any day. Once we have a thumbs up, the contractor will complete installation of the lobby ceiling and begin tearing down the scaffolding. All together, there are about 10 days of work left. So, once we can get the inspector here, we are looking at 2 weeks of work remaining.
Their team is working on punchlist items in the Party Room, and our staff will be completing repairs to an area of the flooring which was damaged when water leaked from deteriorated insulation. However, the Weight Room has been reopened for use during regular operating hours.
Workers continued framing and prepping for installation of the new lobby ceiling drywall, followed closely by the electrician who is installing new wiring and can lights. They are prepping on each side moving towards the doorman station and for the most part have completed just passed the corner at the lobby glass door. They expect to finish prepping next week, after which drywall installation and finishing work will commence in earnest.
If the process continues without surprises, the scaffolding should be removed, and the lobby cleared out by Friday September 25th.
Do not hesitate to contact the office with any questions.
