Preparations for new concrete on Phase 2 – in and around the Circle Driveway continued. The bad news was the rainy weather which slowed progress this week. Fortunately though, our contractor found an alternate source and supplier for concrete, with the material we need. So we expect during the upcoming work week, weather permitting they will be pouring concrete and preparing to install the new waterproof membrane. This is good news, as we had confirmed that there was a pretty serious shortage of concrete due to a spike in demand combined with the ongoing tollway project. On the underside, they will be completing the concrete repairs, and we are hopeful that by the weekend, parkers who have been temporarily displaced on 1p will be able to return to their spots.
With cooperative weather conditions, about 4 weeks remain on Phase 2.
Progress on the masonry work also slowed, but weather permitting we expect the masonry repairs along the North/Sheridan side of the project to be completed. Grinding will begin along the second section at the middle expanse which is adjacent to the market entrance. Traffic will be blocked from time to time as they are working in this location. The joints along this section of wall was one of our bigger areas of concern due to visible deterioration. Thankfully – so far – the contractor has found no unknown conditions that would result in additional work. If the weather cooperates we expect at least two more weeks of work to major completion.
Some owners have inquired as to whether the stairs are completed. They are not done until the permanent railings are put in place. But we have also asked for samples of treads to be provided to help with visibility and footing. Both along the new ramp and planter and the stairs at the plaza level.
We appreciate all our Owners and residents continued patience as this work continues. Do not hesitate to contact the office with any questions.
