We are please to report the Phase 1 portion of the project is complete, and the plaza has reopened. A couple important things to keep in mind, however, are some work does remain in these locations that will be completed with Phase 2 and Masonry work. This includes the new railings, the paneling along the street-side of the plaza and the masonry work and tuck-pointing. There will be a couple days where the mall entrance will be blocked while the masonry repairs are being completed. The exact timing is difficult to pinpoint, but should occur over the next three weeks as long as the current weather pattern (dry and relatively mild) holds.
Phase 2 concrete removal has been completed today, including the underside on 1p. We hope to begin pouring new concrete, including patching the underside, next week. The exposed areas are being prepped, and forms will begin going in place. However, this is weather dependent, and our contractor has reported that they have seen some delays due to the “tollway project“, which as our rep put it has been “hogging all the ready mix”. We are crossing our fingers for deliveries beginning Wednesday and/or Thursday, the 15th and 16th.
The masonry work and tuck-pointing are underway, with grinding of the old mortar joints and preparations for repair of the brick detail along the bottom of the exterior walls. This began this week at the northern most corner where the driveway meets Sheridan Road and will move southward toward the lobby over the next three weeks. So far, no surprises. Weather permitting, and assuming we do not uncover any unknown conditions, this should be completed by month end.
As always, feel free to contact the office with any questions or concerns.
