After meeting with ComEd, we learned they are waiting on a final review by the Chicago Water Department before the permit for work along Sheridan Road in front of Park Tower will begin. They expect the permit to be issued within 3 weeks, and already have begun compiling the materials and equipment necessary to begin the repairs to their vault. (This vault houses the electrical plant which services Park Tower.)
ComEd informed us of the following:
1. The project may begin as soon mid-March to mid-April, and they estimate it will take 10 to 12 weeks to complete. They will be working weekdays from 8am to 3pm.
2. The project area runs from the corner of the South end of the plaza, near the new stairs and planter, all the way North, terminating at the end of the plaza stairs. THEY EXPECT THE PLAZA TO BE OBSTRUCTED FOR MOST OF THE DURATION OF THE PROJECT. The work area will be surrounded by a protective fence.
3. The bus stop is to be relocated to the front of the Circle Drive, directly in front of the Circle Drive planter by the traffic light pole.
4. The work will be noisy and dusty.
As we previously reported, the contractor conducting plaza repairs has informed us they intend to begin installing the panels and completing other finishing work that has to date been prevented by the weather.
Weather dependent they will continue with the plaza side panels adjacent to the sidewalk along Sheridan Road. The advised us only severe cold and wind would prevent this from beginning. The work will begin along the North end of the plaza, near the driveway between Park Tower and 5445. So far, the cold coupled with the very snowy weather has prevented them from making much progress.
Due to the work expected by ComEd, the panels for the South end of the plaza will be stored and installed after the vault work is completed.
As always, we appreciate our residents and Owners patience and understanding while such work is underway. Please contact us with any questions or concerns you may have.
