Direction was given by the Board at the December 13th meeting, for notices to be posted that returns should not be left in the package room. The space is for deliveries only. And, we’ve received pretty much got the same question several times: Why?
The reason is pretty simple – we cannot do returns; that is to say, we are not supposed to. None of the carriers are actually authorized to accept returns from that location, and they sit there until someone takes them to a drop off. And, because of the volume of packages delivered, adding to it piles of returns has been chaotic. Some of the carriers pick them up anyway – true – but, as we understand it they are technically not supposed to.
So what can you do with your returns? There are drop boxes for FedEx, UPS and USPS in the north mall entrance which can be used for returns. Also, you can typically arrange pick up directly by contacting the carrier you are using, or you can find a drop off location online at most carriers’ websites.
Unfortunately, the Association can not hold or make room for packages that are intended as “returns”. Residents need to take responsibility for all such packages and coordinate appropriate handling of their returns. Fortunately there is a FedEx box, a UPS box and a USPS box located in the west mall door entrance near the market.
If your package does not fit in that location, or you’re uncomfortable leaving it there, FedEx returns can also be made at FedEx drop off locations or Walgreens (check FedEx.com for more info). UPS returns can be made at UPS drop off locations (see UPS.com).
The Association, its Board of Directors, management and staff cannot accept responsibility for the storing, handling or coordination of packages that need to be returned to sender or otherwise shipped.
Everyone’s cooperation is greatly appreciated.
