As anticipated, the Park Tower Market is now closed for business. Work is underway for “Go Grocer” (www.gogrocerchicago.com) to take occupancy and begin their build out of the Unit.
At present, the finer points of the lease between the Association and Go Grocer are being vetted. Some work on repairs and improvements of the space are already underway, but for the most part at present, this is work the Association is responsible for to help prep the space for use.
We will keep residents updated on the progress of this effort, including when we have an estimated date for Grand Opening of the new market.
CLOSING FOR BUSINESS
Sunday February 24th
We received formal notice the current operator of Park Tower Market will be closing their doors and ceasing operations, with their last day of business being on Sunday February 24th.
Following the close of business and throughout next week, they will be dismantling their operation, and removing fixtures, equipment and belongings they will not be leaving in the space. On or after March 1st, we expect to be turning over occupancy of the space to “Go Grocer”. You can review a message from the Board President regarding this at: www.ptcondo.com/important-message-from-board-president/
The Association is presently in negotiation with Go Grocer to lease the space for use as a Grocery market. As of now we expect a deli, café, fresh produce and dairy, with a focus on organic and locally sourced products, lottery and liquor – and possibly even a Pharmacy. A letter of intent has already been agreed to and details for leasing of the space are being worked out now between attorneys for the Association and Go Grocer. More information will be shared with Owners, residents and neighbors once it’s available. For now, to learn more about Go Grocer, you can visit their website at www.gogrocerchicago.com.
If negotiations go as expected, Go Grocer does plan to perform an extensive build out of the market space. Between that and the necessary licensing, it is possible the space could be closed for up to 90 days or more. We realize the presence of a market is an important amenity and resource for our residents, and we will be working to make the transition go as smoothly and quickly as possible.
