Please watch our website and bulletin boards for announcements as work progresses. There may be other days and times when outages will be necessary to conduct the necessary work. Once the spaces are prepared, and a date is confirmed for the equipment exchange, we do expect a coupled days when the weight and cardio rooms will both be closed. At this time, our best guess is this will occur within the first two weeks of May.
The Board is set to formally consider improvements to the Park Tower Health Club at the Board Meeting scheduled for Monday February 22nd.
Under consideration are an almost complete replacement of fitness equipment, turning racquetball court number 1 into the weight room, and moving the cardio room to the current weight room. The plan was accepted by the Board in July of 2015 following recommendations from the Health Club Committee. The Budget & Finance Committee recommended funding the project, and the budgeting for the plan was passed with the 2016/2017 fiscal year budget.
Since that time, our team has been gearing up to the begin the process. Assuming the Board formally executes the plan, we are set to begin on Tuesday March 1, 2016. Work will begin in racquetball court #1 as it transforms into the weight room. This will continue through mid-April. Then our attention will turn to the cardio room, where some improvements and preparations will be made for the new cardio equipment. We expect flooring work to be done in early May and probably the second week of May, the new equipment to be installed.
If all goes as planned, on Tuesday March 1st and Wednesday March 2, 2016 all of the cardio room will be closed from 9:00am to 5:00pm as materials are moved into the racquetball court and work formally begins. It will be open after 5:00pm for normal use.
The Pool, Weight Room, and both locker rooms will be operational and accessible during this time.
As the project moves forward, any other closures will be posted with as much notice as possible.
