Electronics Recycling is continuing! The bins in back will remain until residents stop filling them up. So, spring clean your old devices right on out of your condo!
Recycling Workshop Presentation PDF Now Available! On Wednesday, as planned, Eileen McArdle with Republic Services made an amazing presentation about the Do’s and Don’ts of Recycling. Some of the things she talked about as BIG no-nos, including prescription drug bottles, “SOLO” style party cups, shredded paper, greasy pizza boxes, styrofoam, plastic packaging and bubble wrap, and plastic bags. And she also said the size of stuff matters too. Basically anything smaller than a credit card, cannot be put through their system. For prescription drug bottles, these can be returned to the pharmacy you got them from.
ALSO, many folks asked about what happens to our electronics. Does it end up somewhere in the Pacific? Or in China, like we’ve heard about in the news in recent years? No! Thankfully, it is processed for everything reusable, and distributed domestically. You can find out more about this at https://eridirect.com/.
There were questions about VHS Tapes and CDs…these can be recycled with the electronics!
Also, for those of you get rid of old computers, tablets and cell phones…these are wiped of their data if possible 7 times before the devices are taken apart to separate the material that is recyclable.
