But as you should with any contractual terms and conditions, it’s smart to read them and be aware of them.
ASTOUND (formerly RCN) recently sent letters notifying customers of their new “Terms And Conditions”. These are very industry standard and there is nothing in them that is at all alarming in my opinion. They are similar to other terms and conditions for internet services and programming providers. For the most part, they are simply taking out “RCN” and putting in “ASTOUND”, which is something I’d bet their lawyers suggested they do sooner or later. Nothing else seems out of the ordinary for its purpose.
If you received this letter, it is likely because you had a personal account with RCN originally, perhaps for premium services like HBO or internet speed upgrades. The Association received the same letter, because the bulk contract for basic cable and internet service for the building, was originally with RCN.
No one needs to take any action with this, but as with any online service or product for which you have to sign a contract, we would always recommend you read any terms and conditions. Stay educated and informed.
