The new garbage chute is now in place from 19 to 55th floors. As of this evening (Wed. January 21st) from the 41st floor down, the trash chute should be accessible.

Workers are steadily completing the reconstruction. As the masonry and drywall is installed, the staff is removing the bins and unlocking the chute. Once the bins are gone, you should be able to access and resume using the garbage chute. It is possible before they depart, the chute will be accessible on 42 and 43 as well.

The crew will resume work back down on the 19th floor and again work up with painting and trim work, as well as final clean up. When they are on your floor doing this work, the chute may be temporarily inaccessible. But the workers should be able to work around you if you have rubbish to deposit.

Wall repairs are expected to be completed by the end of next week, Friday January 30th. However, there may be additional trim work and “punch-list” items to be completed on a case by case basis from floor to floor.

The entire chute may close down again for a couple days to all floors for the throat to be replaced between the second floor and the chute room on 1p. Formal announcements will be made when that is scheduled.
