These are “I-Pass” style transponders that can be installed on the windshield. Parkers will be able to drive up the ramp, with the exit door automatically opening. You may have already noticed the ‘radar’ looking device, which is really just a fancy long distance fob reader:
With the transponder installed, once you reach within 15 feet of the reader (pictured above) the door automatically begins to open. This will allow for your passage without needing the attendants to signal the door, or stopping to swipe a fob – of course as long as you are obeying the 5 mph speed limit, and not speeding up the ramp. 🙂
The Board assigned a fee of $25 to be associated with registering and issuing the new transponders, to be charged to Unit Owners. There will be an agreement for the parker to complete and sign. If the parker is not a Unit Owner, the Unit Owner will also need to sign the agreement.
For those who would like to be issued a transponder, you can either stop by the office, call 773-769-3250, or send an e-mail request to parktowercondo-mgmt@habitat.com.
