After written warnings, after receiving complaints security twice found a Unit Owner in the mall area without a face covering. Having already received the two warnings specified by the Board, $25 is being charged for the first event, and $50 for the second. Should this Owner be observed again without a face covering on, the fine will double to $100 and then to $200.
Our team is investigating every report we receive. Initial warnings and final reminders have been issued to more than 30 residents and Unit Owners. As this policy is for the protection of all residents, owners, guests, staff and the community, fines will be charged if necessary.
Please do your part!
WASH your hands regularly, and thoroughly for a minimum of 20 seconds.
WEAR your face covering, over your mouth and nose.
WATCH your distance, and be mindful of others personal space, keeping 6 feet of distance between you and anyone else wherever possible.
We understand that people may be feeling overwhelmed and stressed as the Stay at Home Order continues. The Association’s Board and Management continue our efforts to help make sure that you are aware of certain changes that may be happening in the community as well as sharing information regarding COVID-19 that affects both you and your neighbors in your building.
As you most likely are aware, Governor Pritzker recently ordered that masks or face coverings are now required in public spaces if you are unable to maintain social distancing of 6 feet from another person. While wearing a mask isn’t foolproof, a mask or face covering prevents an individual’s breath from traveling and potentially infecting others. This is most important if someone is infected and does not know it, as the mask or face covering will both slow and prevent the spread of the Corona virus from infecting others.
We’re all hopeful that this pandemic disappears soon; but for now, we really depend upon the consideration and kindness of others to protect our collective well being – and that’s all part of being a good neighbor. As we previously posted, residents are now required to wear a mask or face covering when they are passing through or utilizing the common areas of the building. While doing so may be uncomfortable or inconvenient, these efforts by so many of you deserve thanks. We appreciate the efforts of every resident who “masks up” whenever they head out into public spaces.
To emphasize the importance of wearing face coverings within the building, at their Monday May 11, 2020 meeting, the PTCA Board passed a resolution for a policy regarding face coverings, and enforcing their use:
“After two confirmed violations of the face covering requirement in Park Tower Condominium common areas, the Unit Owner will be fined $25 after a notice and opportunity to attend a hearing of the Rules Commission, and the fine is to be doubled each time up to $200 for continued confirmed violations.”
Sadly, we have been receiving complaints from Owners and residents, which our staff is already following up on. So we urge everyone to comply with this requirement, for everyone’s better well-being and comfort. We thank you in advance for your consideration of others and for being a good neighbor.
To the extent you are able – Stay Safe – Stay Home!
