The fire panel and devices throughout the building will be tested on April 5th and 6th. They advised us they may need to be here on Friday April 7th as well.
As they conduct the recall testing, the elevators may be unresponsive for a couple minutes. Though the outages will be short and random, the process could result in some delays. Please plan a couple minutes extra time, if you need to leave the building between 9am and 11am.
Otis Elevator and Siemens technicians will be conducting Elevator Recall testing beginning 9am on April 4th. Usually this process takes a couple hours, with each passenger elevator and the service elevators being tested. The recall system is used by the authorities in the event of a fire or major emergency, to bring all the elevators to the lobby and help prevent residents from being trapped or from stopping on the floor of an incident in progress. The technicians will be ensuring our system is operational and in good working condition, as required by Chicago code. Outages are expected to be minimal, but residents should plan some extra time the morning of April 4th, if you plan or need to come or go after 9am.
Following elevator recall testing, Siemens will continue with our annual fire response system testing. They will be testing the main panel in the lobby, and devices throughout the building intended to help protect and warn Park Tower residents in the event of a fire or other major emergency.
From time to time, you may hear test messages and alerts as announcements are made when they are testing devices from floor to floor. You may also see workers in the hallways as they inspect these devices, and the strobe lights on the speakers may flash from time to time.
We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as we conduct this important work. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience.
