While conducting other work and inspecting the elevator machine room, our designated technician observed conditions which he believed warranted the elevator be taken out of service, out of an abundance of caution. Since that time, the matter was investigated and it was determined the cables need to be replaced before the car can be returned to service.
As you might imagine, this is not an easy job. Unfortunately, new cables are not something available just sitting on a shelf somewhere. But efforts are already underway to get this done. A City permit for the necessary work is already in hand, and the new cables and other necessary materials to complete the job are being ordered and should be available by the end of next week. Otis is aiming to begin the work sometime the week of December 11th. Once work starts, they advised the job will take 6 to 8 days to complete, barring finding any unknown conditions.
We realize this is an inconvenience to our residents and causes unwanted frustration when you are coming and going. We appreciate your patience and understanding while we’ve worked to coordinate the repairs. Please be assured we have been applying all the pressure we can to get this work done as fast as possible.
We will provide any updates as more information becomes available, or should any of our expectations change.
