Earlier today we learned elevator #4 (serving the Lobby and 2nd floor, and floors 23 to 55) was stuck at the lobby level and not responsive.
Our OTIS technician was already on site performing routine maintenance on another elevator and was able to troubleshoot the problem. It turns out a door relay was operating erratically causing its safety to trigger, which will automatically shut the elevator down. A specific part is needed to make the repair. Although this can technically be reset and put back into operation, as a safety precaution and specifically to prevent entrapments, the car was shut down.
OTIS is presently sourcing the part and hopes to have a tech return tomorrow morning to make the necessary repair. If they are unable to source the needed part overnight, the car will have to be shut down over the weekend during which time they are optimistic it will become available. Assuming so, a tech is expected back first thing Monday morning to repair the malfunction and return the elevator to service.
We realize any outage is an inconvenience, and appreciate your patience and understanding while this repair is made.
