Delivery of the motor and other parts was delayed until yesterday due to the extreme weather. Since that time, the motor and other parts to complete the needed maintenance and repair have arrived. A team from Otis is working close to around the clock to get the cab back online.
We are told to expect service to return this weekend, perhaps as soon as during the day on Saturday February 2nd.
We appreciate our residents patience and understanding while these repairs continue.
OTIS Elevator reported they received the necessary parts and equipment to make the repair. They’ve had to take the motor to their shop to be able to complete the repairs. They expect to complete the work and install the repaired motor next week. We don’t have an exact date they expect to return the car to service, however they did say work is expected to take 2 days once they are back on site.
We will update this post, once we know more.
Our staff was alerted to a problem with Elevator #1, after loud noises were reported in the vicinity of the machine room. Residents and staff observed loading banging and crashing noises. Technicians from OTIS determined the source to be caused by bad bearings on car #1’s motor. After taking the motor apart, it was apparent replacement was needed. The necessary parts and replacement bearings have been ordered and shipment is in presently in route.
They attempted to conduct a ‘band-aid repair’ to be able to put the elevator back in service at least temporarily. However, they were unsuccessful. So we are awaiting shipment of the new bearings, with arrival expected early to mid next week. Once in hand, repair and testing of the elevator should be able to take place the same day, after which the elevator will be put back in service.
At present, we expect this to be completed by Friday January 25th.
We apologize for any inconvenience or frustration this outage has caused, and appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding while this repair is coordinated.
