COVID-19 Meeting Follow Up
May 1, 2020
Neighbors In Need, Garage & Riser Project Delay, Getting Regular Business Back Up And Running, And More
First, we would like to give a VERY BIG THANKS to everyone who attended and participated in our ZOOM Meeting on Wednesday April 29th, regarding our COVID-19 Pandemic challenges and response. About 30 Owners and Residents logged in to listen and ask questions. And, we had a lot of great thoughts and questions shared.
We summarized our efforts to date, and encouraged everyone to continue being vigilant, pay attention to our notices and announcements as events unfold and our response evolves, with the goal of minimizing any potential risk to our communities health and safety. A few key take-aways and follow up from the discussion:
- NEEDING HELP? Should anyone need help OR if you know of another resident or neighbor who may be in need of assistance, do not hesitate to contact our team. Contact the office, at 773-769-3250 or via e-mail at parktowercondo-mgmt@habitat.com. For more immediate or urgent needs outside of office hours, the Lobby Front Desk can be reached at 773-769-3083. We can’t guarantee we are able to resolve every potential issue out there, but we will do our reasonable best to respond and provide any guidance we can. Folks needing help with deliveries or packages and other simple tasks, we do have some volunteers, and the Social Commission has expressed strong interest in connecting people if there are challenges you are facing. Don’t hesitate to reach out.
- GARAGE AND RISER PROJECTS, and others? Most major projects have been postponed. Given the extension of the State Of Illinois Stay At Home order, commencement of efforts to begin the Garage Concrete Repairs and the next Riser Projects. For more about this, visit: https://www.ptcondo.com/garage-and-riser-projects-postponed/. For more about the Riser Projects on deck, visit: https://www.ptcondo.com/tentative-riser-schedule-for-2020/. Obviously the dates of this schedule will be changed, once we are able to. These and other projects will unfold, once they are able with the primary concern being whether delay is feasible, if the work is time sensitive, and how much such traffic in the building and workers efforts could have at elevating the potential exposure to residents.
- PPE FOR RESIDENTS? A great question came up, whether we could not make face masks and wipes available or put sanitizer stations by the elevators. Very unfortunately, as much as we would like to provide such materials, we are having a difficult time sourcing such materials for our staff. To date, we’ve managed to keep stocked enough to keep our team protected, and provide the materials necessary to conduct the needed cleaning and sanitizing.
- ASCO EFFORTS? How has ASCO’s efforts helped – the Association of Sheridan Condo and Coop Owners? ASCO has communicated with all their member buildings on a regular basis. Since the pandemic occurred we’ve received sometimes received daily communications. Their messaging has been very consistent with ours, emphasizing Social Distancing, following CDC and WHO guidelines, and the Governor’s Executive Orders. But they’ve also shared community outreach and endeavors, such as the ‘Make Some Noise’ initiative for Saturdays at 8pm: https://www.ptcondo.com/showing-support-to-our-first-responders/. For more from ASCO, visit: http://ascosheridanroad.org/asco/.
- GETTING BACK TO NORMAL? One question from an Owner, was about Pest Control, and when residents can expect Bed Bug inspections to resume. Besides the major projects, other day to day business has been a challenge – especially business requiring our team or others entering Park Tower homes. As we are able to safely conduct other business, Owners and Residents can expect notices and communications. Recently, pro-active Pest Control efforts did resume, and we will be prioritizing our focus on more essential tasks such as that. We have been working with the bed bug inspection team, and that will be the next step. Other activity, non-essential work orders and such, will resume as we are able to do so as reasonably safe as possible. The Habitat Company has formed a Committee, which our office team is a part of, to work through the questions involved with getting business back to normal, while safely considering the new realities present with the Coronavirus.
- THANKS TO OUR PACKAGE ROOM VOLUNTEERS! Despite the present circumstances and risk, Owners and Residents have been continuing to help with package delivery sorting. Betty Terry-Lundy, Monique Fouant (also a Board Member), Vincent DiFruscio, James Jardine, and others. Please feel free to e-mail any names that should be added – tpatricio@habitat.mgmt.
- SOCIAL DISTANCING INCLUDES OUR STAFF! While the Stay At Home order encourages as many members of our community to Stay Home and Stay Safe as possible during this unprecedented time, with most residents at home in Park Tower, it is necessary our team keep things running. Putting themselves and their families at risk by coming to work. On behalf of the Door and Garage Staff, to our janitors and office staff – we are very happy to be needed and we want to help the Park Tower community overcome this challenge. But please be respectful of our time and space as well. Please observe the face covering requirement, please keep 6 feet of space between us as well, and follow all posted requests and procedures with everyone. Neighbors, guests AND, the staff.
Again, thank you for the awesome level of participation in the meeting.
If you have follow up questions or suggestions, or if you need anything, let our team know.
