Key fobs to enter the secured doorways throughout the building are only made available to registered Owners and residents of Park Tower. They are intended for use by the individuals they are assigned to. This is for the best possible safety and security of the PT community.
Sadly, multiple very recent events have underscored why that is.
In one case in particular, a fob was given to the guests of a Unit Owner. These guests used the fob to enter areas of the building where problems resulted including vandalism and noise disturbances. They entered areas of the building that should only be accessed by residents, Owners and staff, and in some cases did so unescorted by the Owner. And despite the police having been contacted, because the owner gave the guests the fob, they are taking no action. Unfortunately the authorities look upon this as an internal civil matter which we have to deal with on our own.
We do address matters such as this and take them very seriously. A Notice of Violation was issued to the Unit Owner, and a hearing is scheduled with the Rules and Regulations Commission. Following the hearing, the Commission will make an enforcement recommendation to the Board and a fine of up to $1000 may be charged. On top of that, damages will be charged back to the Unit Owner as Owners are responsible for the actions of their guests, residents and anyone present in the building associated with the unit.
So please, be as reserved as possible with the use of your fob. Keep it secure like you would your own keys. While we understand many of you have family, housekeepers and caregivers you may let use them temporarily, do so only very guardedly. You are responsible for whatever happens as a result of anyone using that device.
