Chicago Says Goodbye To Plastic Bags

Effective August 1st, Chicago joins dozens of other municipalities worldwide that have banned the plastic grocery bag.
Spread the word with your friends and neighbors, and get yourself some reusable shopping bags! It begins with the larges grocery stores, retail businesses and restaurants August 1st, and then moves on toe smaller businesses next year. The latest is available from the City of Chicago Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection:

The City of Chicago’s plastic bag ban will take effect on August 1, 2015. Retailers occupying stores that are more than 10,000 square foot will no longer be allowed to offer plastic bags.
The ban will be extended to smaller chain stores and franchises in August 2016. The ban does not affect small independent or non-franchise stores and restaurants.
