DESCRIPTION:On September 27 & 28\, 2014 Edgewater Artists in Motion will host the 2nd Annual Edgewater Fall Art Fair on Granville Avenue (Granville Red Line EL stop). \nWith the promise to maintain the very high level of artistic quality that was shown last year\, this year the Fair will be 1 block longer (stretching from Broadway Street to Kenmore Avenue)\, and will feature 100 local art vendors – showing original works in painting\, photography\, hand-made jewelry\, mixed media\, glasswork\, pottery\, and more. \nPlus\, there will be lots of other arts-related activities and entertainment for all ages\, and a special appearance and music performance by Miss Illinois 2014\, Marisa Buchheit! \nLearn more about the 2nd Annual Edgewater Fall Art Fair. \n \n

SUMMARY:Edgewater 5k Run/Walk
DESCRIPTION:Join the first annual Edgewater Back to School 5k Run/Walk! Celebrate the Edgewater community and view historic sites along the lakefront path while raising money for 11 local schools. A portion of each registration fee will go to benefit the school of the runner’s choice. \nWhether you want to get moving with your family\, your friends\, or your dog\, the Edgewater 5k is for you. Gather post-race for snacks and massages\, then head to brunch at one of our local spots and return to Granville Ave. for the Edgewater Fall Art Fair featuring over 90 artists\, two music stages and a beer garden. \nThere is no shortage to post-race brunch options in Edgewater! Stay close and dine on Granville Ave.\, or stretch your legs and head south to Bryn Mawr Ave. Either way\, you won’t be disappointed! \nCLICK HERE TO REGISTER NOW!\nCOST: $45/person; $135/family of four \n$5 of your registration fee goes to the Edgewater school of your choice!\nTimed 5k Run: 8:00 a.m.\n5k Run/Walk: 8:05 a.m.\n5k Run/Walk with your dog: 8:10 a.m. \n  \nAbout the course: \nThe race route begins in front of the historic Sovereign Apartments at Granville and Kenmore and heads east to Sheridan Road. Runners will head south on Sheridan Road\, a rare opportunity to run in the street\, as they are dwarfed by the towering lakefront high rise buildings! The route turns east at Ardmore to the northernmost part of the scenic lakefront path\, heading south past Kathy Osterman Beach. The run will take participants back in time to the Roaring ‘20s\, past the famed Edgewater Beach Building. Rounding the corner of the Foster Beach concessions\, the route meanders along the lakefront before turning around and heading back through the park. \nAbout the beneficiaries: \nThe 48th Ward is home to nine elementary schools and two high schools\, collectively serving more than 6.000 students.  Reflecting the incredible diversity of Edgewater\, kids in our local schools represent hundreds of countries around the world and speak over 75 different languages.  Despite great challenges\, our local schools have achieved marked success through the highest CPS level 1 ratings to the National Blue Ribbon Award with expanded IB programs and innovative arts partnerships.  Funds raised by the Edgewater 5k Run/Walk will go toward providing expanded educational opportunities such as arts and sports programs. \nSchools: \nChicago Friends School\nChicago Jewish Day School\nGoudy Elementary School\nHayt Elementary School\nMcCutcheon Elementary School\nNorthside Catholic Academy\nPeirce Elementary School\nRickover Naval Academy\nSacred Heart Schools\nSenn High School\nSwift Elementary School \n
