Last week it was announced by State Senator Mike Simmons [7th] that Foster, Peterson and Ridge avenues will be getting $2.5 million in construction projects to improve the roadways and make accessibility improvements as part of the Illinois Dept. of Transportation’s multi-year construction plan.
The projects will improve 1.8 miles of U.S. 14 [Peterson] between U.S. 41 [Lincoln Ave.] and Ridge Ave., and a mile of U.S. 41 [Foster] from Ashland to Lake Ridge, Foster, Peterson up for road improvements Shore Dr.
The funding is part of the $20 billion Rebuild Illinois construction plan’s 2022 slate of construction. “These projects represent some much-needed improvements to major arterial streets,” Simmons said. “These improvements will upgrade our roads, make sure the streets and sidewalks are accessible for pedestrians and people living with disabilities, and generate good jobs at the same time.”
A further $2 million has been slated for 2023 to 2027, intended for pedestrian improvements to Ridge Blvd. from Howard to south of Pratt.
Thanks for the heads up Jim! 🙂
