Feb. 2016 Statement from the State of Illinois Fire Marshall
It has become clear through both government and media sources that Hoverboards as presently sold are considered dangerous and unsafe. With the US Consumer Product Safety Commission and State Fire Marshal recently issuing statements warning consumers, the danger is real and there presence could put lives and households at risk for serious damages, injuries and even loss of life. Presently there are no reliable safety standards for the manufacture and use of hover boards. And the fire danger and risk of injury they present when kept, stored or used is now well documented through the media. Amazon.com recently even offered customers full refunds for their return.
