Mailman Pete Zastrow Retiring
March 20, 2015
Our mailman of several decades, Pete Zastrow, has announced his retirement. We join our residents and owners in thanking him for his years of service, and wish him well as he moves on. If you see him around (and it is my understanding he only has a few days left) feel free to thank him and bid him a fond farewell.
Pete was featured in a profile piece in Tower Talk recently:

As many have undoubtedly observed over the years, when Pete is on vacation or a leave of absence, strange things happen with the mail. We routinely get messages and complaints from residents about missing mail, or mail going to neighbors. Since the USPS employees are not PTCA employees, there is very little we can do. We do not supervise them, and complaining to them directly usually yields nothing but a grumpy postal worker. But we have seen some improvements at times in the past when folks are writing letters and calling USPS customer service. The more the merrier. The squeaky building gets the oil. 🙂
If you ever have postal service problems, or suspect you are not receiving your mail, start with an e-mail here:

Also, you can try calling them directly at 1-800-ASK-USPS.
We will not vouch for their response time and we do not have much positive to say about the results we have gotten in the past when the management office had mail problems. But these are the only avenues we are aware of to try to get problems addressed. So if we start having problems once Pete starts his retirement, the best suggestion I can make is we all sit down and write out an e-mail describing the problem, when the problem happens. Hopefully if they see there are multiple problems, from multiple customers at this address, we will get a faster resolution.
