IMPORTANT STREET CLOSURE INFORMATION

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 1,2017 – 7:30am TO 9:15am

Edgewater Chamber’s fourth annual Back to School Edgewater 5K Walk/Run  will take place on Sunday morning October 1, 2017, at 8am. The start/finish line is at Rosemont and Kenmore.

Edgewater 5k street closures Sheridan Road from Rosemont to Ardmore (7:30 to 9:15am)   The eastern (northbound) lane will be used for emergency traffic only.

Sheridan will re-open at 9:15am. Any runners still completing the course after this time will do so on the west sidewalk.

There will be Traffic Management Aides (TMAs) at each intersection along Sheridan to assist with traffic control.They will have volunteers along both sides of Sheridan to manage driveway traffic and be sure everyone is safe. If you would like to volunteer to manage driveway traffic at your building and/or cheer on runners, please contact  Melissa Franada at Melissa@edgewater.org or 773-561-6000.

East/west traffic to and from Sheridan Road on all side streets will be prohibited from 7:30 to 9:15 am except for emergencies. There will be volunteers on side streets preventing cars from heading east to Sheridan. Barricades to defer traffic heading east to Sheridan will be at Winthrop/Ardmore, Winthrop/Thorndale, Winthrop/Glenlake, and Winthrop/Granville.

If you MUST depart during the race, ONLY buildings on the east side of Sheridan will be allowed to exit SLOWLY out of their driveway. The cars will only be allowed to exit north to Devon.

Rosemont Ave. will be closed from Sheridan to Kenmore (3am – noon) on Sun. Oct.1

The start/finish line will be at Kenmore on Rosemont.  All runners/walkers will gather prior to the start of the event on Loyola University’s St. Ignatius Plaza.

All Sheridan CTA buses will be re-routed during the race to Broadway, and regular service will resume around 9:30 am.

A police car will be stationed at Broadway and Devon to direct all southbound and eastbound traffic down Broadway. A police car will also be stationed at Sheridan and Hollywood to direct traffic coming off of Lake Shore Drive west to Broadway.
